Our commitment to the UN Global Compact

Enhesa, the leading provider of regulatory and sustainability intelligence worldwide, is a participant in the United Nations Global Compact — the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.

The decision to become a participant in the Global Compact is an affirmation of Enhesa’s commitment to advancing our Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) by implementing universal sustainability principles and accelerating our progress on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues.

We’re in a good position to promote SDG 12 Sustainable Production and Consumption, as well as the current actions we have in place which contribute to targets on SDG 13 Climate Action and SDC 16 Peace Justice and Strong Institutions.

Acknowledgement of changes

Enhesa has calculated it’s greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and has obtained a limited assurance by DNV for the GHG inventory for 2023 and 2024.

We believe in transparency, which is why we’ve obtained independent assurance of our GHG inventory — so we can strive to continuously improve and as a proven commitment to transparency.

In line with our commitment to our near-term science-based target validated by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi), we’re happy to say that we achieved the reduction in line with our target — to ultimately achieve a 42% absolute reduction for Scope 1 and Scope 2 from our 2022 baseline by 2030. This reduction is due to the fact that we have moved two of our offices. In line with our policies, the new premises are supplied with renewable energy and/or with energy efficiency measures. Additionally, our existing offices also changed to 100% renewable electricity and some offices don’t generate emissions from gas or fuels (Scope 1).

Artboard 1

While we successfully advocate for the change to renewable electricity, we know this does not guarantee zero emissions and will continue to find ways to reduce our emissions and be transparent about it.

Since most of the reduction comes from actual changes to our operations (e.g. offices supplied with renewable electricity), this does not trigger a recalculation based on the GHG protocol, our internal policy, and relevant instruments. We acknowledge the changes and have confirmed that the accuracy improvements do not have an impact triggering any recalculation (since they are under 5%). In summary, they do not compromise the consistency and relevance of the GHG emissions.

Scope 3 emissions

Active measurement

Travel reductions in 2024

We also actively measure — and have measures in place to reduce — our Scope 3 emissions.

Our Scope 3 emissions increased in 2023 (723.97 tCO2e). However, this increase is due to the fact that we’ve included additional categories for measurement and have consolidated information for the whole company, which was not the case in 2022.

AI small_1

In 2024, we had an internal goal to reduce our Scope 3 emissions from travel, and we are happy to confirm that we reduced business travel emissions by 30% and the number of flights was reduced.

In this period, Scope 3 emissions accounted for 525.09 tCO2e. This reduction is due to less travel, more accuracy, and a light decrease in commuting.

For business travel, we calculated a total of 299.99 tCO2e compared to 440.81tCO2e in 2023. This translates to a 30% reduction in business travel versus 2023.

Sustainable offices

Engagement with landlords and changing to renewable energy, and the procurement of renewable energy.

This has been successful. Most offices are supplied with renewable energy. We continue to follow up with energy audit measures and building management.

Enhancing energy efficiency

Identification of technical measures from energy audits, raising awareness about energy savings.

Scope 3 emission reduction

Measures to reduce travel by understanding when we can replace face-to-face meetings and events with virtual ones.

We updated our rules to book all travel through our travel management system, so we can have a company-wide view with the same level of detail and information for all bookings. This improves the quality and accuracy of our inventory.

Using AI ethically

Enhesa has strategically incorporated machine learning and AI into our systems to ensure our customers get immediate visibility of jurisdictional and legislative regulatory changes around the world. But the use of AI raises a series of significant ethical questions — all of which our dedicated team of AI specialists consider with every application of generative AI and machine learning.
