Betsy holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Delaware in Leadership and Consumer Economics. In her role, Betsy collaborates closely with different stakeholders. Using this intelligence, Betsy creates, plans, and delivers product solutions that help clients find efficiencies in their jobs to meet their sustainable chemistry initiatives in manageable ways.
Her ability to solve challenges on a daily basis that have a real impact for companies and consumers has made her invaluable to many businesses as an enabler of effective solutions.
Betsy is a recognized voice of the industry as a speaker at many industry, association and trade events. Her driving focus is to align companies on a definition for chemicals of concern (ideally based on Chemical Hazard Assessments) with the goal of reducing and removing harmful chemicals that could have a negative impact on humans and the environment.
Betsy said: “I have two young children and understanding the potential risks that exposure to harmful chemicals can cause is terrifying — developmental and cognitive impacts, respiratory problems, endocrine disruption, immune system suppression, cancer risks, and more. That’s not considering the impacts on our ecosystem — biodiversity loss, water pollution, carbon emissions, and more. Some of which are irreversible. Companies have the capacity to make an impact, phase out these harmful chemicals, and find safer alternatives by better understanding the chemicals in their products and processes, and their impacts. That is what I focus on in my work, making this process easier in the hopes that more companies will start to take the proactive approach to safer chemistry.”
