ASEAN Cosmetic Directive: 3-benzylidene camphor to be banned from cosmetics

On November 2015, the 23rd Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) Cosmetics Committee (ACC) meeting was held to amend the ASEAN Cosmetics Directive. The chemical substance, 3-benzylidene camphor (CAS No.15087-24-8) will be banned from varying dates amongst Member States (1 July 2016 for Malaysia) to be used in cosmetics. In addition, there are 9 hair dyes to be regulated amongst 7 Member States, but excluding Malaysia and Indonesia.
