Changes to PFAS restrictions are coming
Video interview with Carl Dannenberg
Leigh Stringer, Managing Editor Europe at Chemical Watch News & Insight interviews Carl Dannenberg, scientific officer at Germany’s Federal Office for Chemical Safety, BAuA at the PFAS updates Europe conference held on 16 October in Brussels.
There is a gathering momentum of new regulatory measures to eradicate and manage the hazardous perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl chemicals, known as PFAS, in products. At the PFAS updates Europe conference held on 16 October in Brussels key industry experts on PFAS were presenting their views to an audience keen to understand what’s coming for compliance.
ECHA proposes to ban or restrict approximately 10,000 PFAS in manufacturing, use or for placing on the EU market, with a transition period after entry into force, which require significant planning for a wide range of industry sectors to adapt with the chemicals they use.
Speaking at the event was Carl Dannenberg, Scientific Officer at Germany’s Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, BAuA. BAuA is one of the competent authorities working on the universal PFAS restriction proposal.
Leigh Stringer, Managing Editor Europe at Chemical Watch News & Insight took the opportunity to catch up with Carl Dannenberg with some questions on what preparations are needed for PFAS moving forward.
