An excellent safety culture is the goal of most safety practitioners. But it can be elusive, requiring a change in human behavior to be fully realized. This change relies on a solid foundation in compliance — including knowing what’s required, managing and communicating that information as it changes, and establishing policies and procedures based on this knowledge.
For many companies, this requires not only a process shift but also a cultural one — from knowing what’s required to realizing it in the everyday habits and behaviors of many teams. And that takes leadership.
So how can leadership foster the kind of change that’s needed?
On 29 October, industry experts Marieke Bleyenbergh, a senior operational leader in high risk industry with in-depth EHS experience in Shell and AkzoNobel, and Anthony Wareham, retired EHS leader formerly with Philips and Honeywell, will join Enhesa’s Senior Expert Services Strategy Director Mary Foley to discuss how companies can build on a foundation of compliance knowledge to foster a cultural commitment to safety across the organization.
With a combined 50 years of experience, Anthony and Marieke will discuss in a moderated panel discussion with Enhesa their real-world experiences, best practices, and lessons learned on their journeys, including how:
- Management systems, procedures, and policies can help communicate the rules of a safety culture
- A commitment to safety, prioritized by leadership, can lead the behavioral changes required
- Communicating requirements, while encouraging learning, can foster commitment to a safety culture
