Scoring your Products for EIM with SciveraLENS

We have collaborated with Jeanologia to provide safer and more sustainable chemistry insight to the global apparel industry. Jeanologia uses the SciveraLENS platform as part of its own Environmental Impact Measurement (EIM) scoring system to give a Chemistry Impact Score (CIS) for Formulations.

The CIS is based on three components:

  1. ZDHC manufacturing restricted substance list (MRSL) conformance levels 1-3
  2. Chemical Hazards Assessments
  3. Screening Chemistry Certification.

The EIM CIS score is calculated based on your data entry in our SciveraLENS® software platform and our Toxicology team’s manual review.

To get started, you need an active SciveraLENS subscription and have purchased a Certification Review Package. Your subscription allows you to enter each product formulation, gather any required data from your suppliers, and access our EIM Dashboard, allowing you to preview or forecast the EIM Score for your product. The preview and final scores will depend on the disclosure option you want to pursue and the assessment for each CAS RN.

You must meet minimum disclosure requirements (see below) before you can proceed with requesting EIM scoring using SciveraLENS. All required information should be gathered and entered directly into SciveraLENS, including any sub-supplier ingredient and document information (when required).

Minimum disclosure requirements:

  • ZDHC Conformance Certificate for the current ZDHC MRSL (minimum of Level 1 required)
  • Product Safety Data Sheet (SDS)

Optional disclosure for possible higher scores:

  • 100% ingredient disclosure OR
  • Screened Chemistry certification

When you submit for EIM scoring through SciveraLENS, you can also request a Screened Chemistry review and certification as part of the process.

All EIM product scores need to be reviewed annually for renewal. Annual renewal is required to maintain your listing on the EIM registry. If your formulation has been updated (new suppliers, change in formulation, etc.), you must update your Formulation in SciveraLENS and resubmit for updated scoring.

Preparing for EIM Scoring in SciveraLENS

You will need to create a separate Formulation in SciveraLENS for each product you want scored for EIM and listed in the EIM platform.

Creating your Formulation

To get started, log into your SciveraLENS account and create a Formulation for each product you want scored.

Build a Formulation in SciveraLENS:

  • Go to the All Formulations tab located in the menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
  • Click the green “+” to create a new Formulation.
  • Select BOS Builder

User guide 2025-Formulations All quick formulation

  • Name your Formulation. The Formulation name should be the name of the product you would like scored.
  • Click the Save and Continue button.
  • On the Add CAS RNs screen, you must enter the chemical ingredient (by CAS RN) and concentration information for each chemical ingredient in your product. You can include any of the additional fields as desired.
    1. Concentrations should be entered as a decimal. For example, if a chemical concentration is 80%, you will enter 0.80 in the concentration field.
  • Click Save.
  • Step 3, “Add Formulation,” is an optional step that can be helpful if you would like to link other Formulations you have already entered into SciveraLENS or if you need to gather additional chemical ingredient information, especially when pursuing 100% ingredient disclosure.
    1. If you need to link previously entered Formulations, click the green
“+” button and select “Existing Formulation” from the dropdown. You can then select the Formulation you would like to link and the concentration of that product in the final Formulation.
    2. If you need to send a request for information to a supplier(s) to reach 100% disclosure, click the green “+” button and select “New Request” from the dropdown. Follow the prompts to create your request and complete the form with your supplier information. You will be notified when your supplier responds to your request and can complete the review and submission process.
  • On Step 4, “Assign Supporting Documents”, upload a PDF of the product SDS and ZDHC MRSL Conformance Certificate (for the current version of the ZDHC MRSL). These are required for EIM scoring. You may also upload existing certificates for your product in this step (Screened Chemistry, GreenScreen, Bluesign, etc.). These certificates will be considered in scoring. Click the Upload File button for each individual file.
  • Click the Continue button.
  • On Step 5, “Assign Lists for Screening,” you can search the lists available in SciveraLENS and select those that interest you. This step will tell the system which list(s) you want to screen your chemicals against. We have pre-selected the lists needed for EIM review for you, so this step is optional.
  • Click the Submit button to complete your Formulation.

If you are choosing the minimum level of disclosure (SDS and ZDHC certification) for EIM scoring, please choose Upload SDS instead of Add Formulation from the left-hand navigation menu and follow the prompts to upload your SDS. Check and confirm that the data entered is complete and accurate. Once you upload your SDS, you can review the Formulation from the All Formulations menu and submit it for review and scoring.

If no CAS RN information is available, enter “Undisclosed” and the concentration as 100%. This serves as a placeholder if you have an SDS and it doesn’t have any CAS RN information included. As no CAS RNs are available, we will review your product SDS H-Codes to generate your EIM score.

Previewing your Assessment Results and Predicted EIM Score

Once you have added your Formulation information, you can preview your assessment results and predicted EIM scores using the EIM Dashboard in SciveraLENS. (Please click here to view the most recent rules on EIM scoring within SciveraLENS.) This dashboard provides a preview or forecast of the Chemistry Impact Score for EIM, depending on the Disclosure Option you would like to pursue. Please note that these scores are not final until our toxicology team has reviewed your submission and confirmed your report.

Along the top of the EIM Dashboard summary table, you will see the Formulation or product summary line and a forecast of your EIM score under each disclosure option available.

  • Option 1 – Provides a forecast of your EIM score under disclosure option 1, which includes your SDS and ZDHC certification.
  • Option 2 – Provides a forecast of your EIM score under disclosure option 2, which requires 100% ingredient disclosure and your SDS and ZDHC certification. Please note that this score will be gray in the dashboard if your Formulation contains one or more unverified chemicals.
  • Option 3—Provides a forecast of your EIM score under disclosure option 3, which is Screened Chemistry. Please note that this score will display as gray in the dashboard if your Formulation contains one or more unverified chemicals.

ZDHC – This column will indicate if a chemical in your formulation is present on the ZDHC MRSL. Our toxicologists will adjust your EIM score if a valid ZDHC certification is included in your certificate and scoring request.

Verified – The verified column indicates that our toxicology team has confirmed the Hazard Category rating, and no additional work is needed to assess this chemical. If a chemical has been fully verified, it will be indicated with a checkmark in this column. If the check mark is missing from the verified column and you would like to proceed with either EIM disclosure option 2 or 3, additional verification work will need to be done. Any verification work needed can come out of your Certification Review Package.
