Enhesa acquires TotalSDS to create a connected, end-to-end workflow for global chemical compliance

The acquisition will drive new innovations leveraging Enhesa Fusion AI-capabilities and create a fully connected view of workplace safety.

Enhesa announced the acquisition of TotalSDS, a Florida-based specialist provider of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) authoring software. By integrating TotalSDS’ software and solutions, Enhesa will create an end-to-end workflow for the management of chemical safety data. This will allow chemical manufacturers, formulators and distributors in the chemicals supply chain to stay compliant with the complex and constantly changing global regulatory requirements.

The complexity of global chemicals compliance

The acquisition comes at a time when organizations are operating in a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous) world—a context Enhesa is well accustomed to navigating its clients. As global chemicals production and use continue to rise, regulatory complexity increases in parallel. Compliance with hazard communication rules is becoming more challenging as jurisdictions adopt differing requirements and timelines, even under the Globally Harmonized System (GHS), which on its own gets updated every few years. Also reporting requirements are continually revised on a chemical-by-chemical basis.

Having a trusted solution for SDS authoring is therefore essential for companies, in particular for those with international aspirations. A pioneer in the field of software-driven SDS authoring and management, TotalSDS helps companies efficiently produce compliant chemical safety documentation, and manage ongoing updates and dissemination of that documentation to key stakeholders.

How SDSs fit in regulatory content and hazard intelligence

While Enhesa has traditionally focused on regulatory content and hazard data, TotalSDS brings the execution capability to produce compliant SDSs. Clients will not only be able to understand their compliance obligations, but also to act on them directly through the creation and management of compliant SDSs. This extends the scope of services Enhesa provides, making us a comprehensive partner for organizations seeking to embed chemical compliance into everyday workflows.

TotalSDS’ digitalized SDS workflow will be integrated into Enhesa’s market-leading regulatory product compliance and chemical hazard intelligence. By embedding TotalSDS software and services,  Enhesa will create a fully connected, end-to-end workflow that links regulatory, chemical and product safety data and insights for global business in the hazardous chemicals supply chain.

Through the acquisition, TotalSDS will be able to lean on Enhesa’s growth trajectory experience to expand globally, enhance worldwide support, drive new innovations leveraging our Enhesa Fusion AI-capabilities and create a fully connected view of workplace safety.
