Why Angelini Pharma chose Enhesa to stay fully compliant during rapid growth

Catia Testa explains why using the corporate dashboard makes managing the complexities of multi-jurisdiction compliance easy.

Angelini Pharma, the pharmaceutical division of Angelini Industries, has become a leading international group in healthcare, highly active in R&D, with expertise in mental health, epilepsy and consumer health. Angelini Pharma is marketed in 70 countries, operates directly in 20 countries and employs nearly 3,000 people.

The challenge: Ensuring compliance during expansion

As a growing, successful pharmaceutical company, expansion into new countries presents complex challenges with the differing regulatory landscapes concerning EHS. Angelini Pharma takes pride in ensuring it meets the health, safety and environmental standards in every location and Catia Testa, EHS International Manager at Angelini Pharma, sought a partner that had a complete understanding of the different regulatory environments. Key to a partnership was the ability to make it easy to access relevant information about the laws in each country in which the business operated, locally and in a centralized way, to have an overview.

“Our main sites are in Italy, which has experienced rapid growth. Over the period of a few years, it has expanded into UK, USA, and others European countries, where it was not present before; which makes it complex to understand and implement all the legal requirements necessary,” explained Testa.

“The business driver for us to engage with Enhesa was primarily compliance with EHS regulations and a system that gave us the possibility to look over all our subsidiaries around the world,” said Testa. “It was tricky to find the right partner and we searched a lot. We decided to go with Enhesa because it is a global company, they have been experts in this field for a long time and they are stable.”

Compliance checking, made easy

A criterion for finding the most appropriate system was that it should be relatively intuitive.

“Enhesa helped us to understand what we had to do to manage compliance for all our subsidiaries. The system is quite easy to use, and they supported us to go through a checklist country by country to understand which were the applicable requirements.”

When up and running, the Enhesa solution acts to check EHS compliance anywhere in the world without a protracted drag on resources.

“The system is now in place, and it’s easy to see what the legal requirements are for each country. It’s an important part of the management system. We use the legal requirements register, the dashboard with the requirements where we check if laws are applicable or not and which actions are required or not, and the legislation.”
