Donald Ward has over 20 years of experience as a toxicologist and is also a US board-certified toxicologist (Diplomate American Board of Toxicology-DABT). He joined Enhesa in 2022, and works primarily on chemical hazard assessments. Don previously spent 10 years at NSF International, the public health standards organization.

He has a particular interest in skin sensitization and the application of new approach methods (NAMs) to the classification of chemicals using In Silico and high-throughput screening (HTS) assays in place of traditional animal studies. Much of his assessment work focuses on this area.

Don’s background, and academic qualifications, lie in the environmental health field, which is where he started his working career. However, he moved across to specialize in toxicology quite quickly, and since then, much of his work has focused on product safety assessments. He is interested in identifying hazards of new products or assessing materials against standards, especially in relation to skin sensitivity. He has recently presented posters on this subject at conferences, including the Society of Toxicology’s annual event.
